Cookie Policy

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files placed in your browser when you visit a website. This site also uses your browser’s own storage (localStorage and sessionStorage), which works in much the same way. On this page, “cookies” means both, and the table below names every item we set.

Your choice

Google Analytics and Google Ads cookies are on from your first visit, and the banner lets you accept or decline them. Declining turns them off: Google stops reading or setting its cookies and receives only anonymous, cookie-free signals. It does not limit your use of the site in any way. You can change your mind at any time — nothing about your earlier decision is final.

What we set

Strictly necessary

Always active. These make the site work and remember what you told it. They are not used to track you across other websites.

NamePurposeLifetime
fs_cookie_choiceRemembers whether you accepted or declined, so you are not asked on every page.Until you clear it
futuresource-langRemembers whether you are reading in English or French.Until you clear it
fs_contactDetails you have already typed into a form on this site, so the next form can pre-fill them. Stays in your browser — it is not sent anywhere by itself.Until you clear it

Analytics

These tell us how many people visit and which pages they read, so we can improve the site. The Google cookies are on from your first visit unless you decline. Our own tracker sends nothing unless you accept. The approximate location stays in your browser and reaches us only with your consent or with a form you send.

NamePurposeLifetime
_ga, _ga_J4CHFV7VB1Google Analytics 4. Counts visits and distinguishes one browser from another. Set by Google.2 years
fs_consentTells our own visit tracker that you accepted. Until it is set, that tracker sends nothing.Until you clear it
fs_geo_v1Approximate city and province, worked out from your IP address by our own server, so we know which regions our visitors come from.Ends with the browser session

Advertising

These connect an ad you clicked to what you did afterwards, so we know which ads are worth paying for. The Google cookie is on from your first visit unless you decline. fs_ads_click and fs_first_touch are kept either way, but they stay in your browser and reach us only if you send one of our forms, filed with your enquiry.

NamePurposeLifetime
_gcl_auGoogle Ads. Attributes a conversion to the ad click that led to it. Set by Google.90 days
fs_ads_clickGoogle’s own click identifier (gclid) from the link you arrived on. It identifies the click, not you.90 days
fs_first_touchA snapshot of how you first reached us — campaign, search term, referring site, landing page.90 days

Third parties

The only third party setting cookies on this site is Google, for Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads, from your first visit unless you decline. Google’s use of that data is governed by its own privacy policy. We never pass your name or address to Google. Your email and phone are the one exception: if you have accepted cookies and you submit one of our forms, your browser sends Google a one-way SHA-256 hash of those two details, so Google can tell whether one of our ads led to your enquiry. Google receives the hash, not the address or number, and cannot use it to contact you. If you decline cookies, nothing is sent.

Browser controls

Your browser can also block or delete cookies from its settings. Clearing this site’s data also removes your saved choice, your language and any remembered form details — the banner will appear again on your next visit.

Updates

If we add or remove a measurement tool, this page is updated in the same change and the date above moves with it.
